It’s so easy to get mesmerized in all little details of this painting and it’s just as awesome to take in the whole piece at once.  It’s like a good book or a good movie, I notice something new and intriguing every time.  When it was originally shown in 1859 viewers standing in front of the 5x10 foot painting where given opera glasses to search around the painting and find all the little stuff Church put into it.
